Biomedical Technician II - ASC-Patchogue - Part Time Days

NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island. The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biomedical Technician II - ASC-Patchogue - Part Time Days - Biomed - Suffolk - - Monday - Wednesday.

In this role, the successful candidate Primary responsibilities include testing, calibrating and performing recommended preventive maintenance on various medical devices including defibrillators, bedside monitors, IV pumps, hypothermia units, and other devices deployed throughout the hospital. Demonstrated knowledge of CMMS system (to be converted to Connectiv application). Ability to work independently to meet PM goals and repair equipment on a timely basis to provide nursing with the tools to perform quality patient care. Understanding of DNV, NYS DOH and other regulatory agencies and preparing documents for surveys (announced and unannounced). Ensuring that equipment is safe and ready to use for hospital personnel by maintaining a high but consistent level of performance required to keep patients safe in our hospital

Job Responsibilities:

  • Using standard test equipment, provide preventative maintenance and perform
  • required safety inspection per established protocols
  • Tests, repairs and cleans equipment to standards established by department.
  • Order parts as necessary, to maintain adequate inventory to keep equipment
  • Flowing through the department to meet nursing needs.
  • Properly enter inventory and parts data into CMS Asset Management System
  • to meet goals for documentation accuracy and satisfy DNV requirements for
  • proper documentation as well.
  • Escalate problems to senior personnel and management when required to
  • Ensure problems are solved in a timely manner.
  • On a daily basis, triage broken equipment from Central Sterile to keep supply
  • of vital equipment such as IV pumps at adequate levels

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum of HS diploma, and some college courses. AAS preferred.
Utilize proper soldering techniques, when needed
Follow proper ESD procedures when handling static sensitive PCBs
Repair and calibrate equipment to maintain proper safety and adequate supply of equipment.
Ability to properly use CMS Asset Management System to maintain proper equipment records.
On a daily basis, willingness to learn about more complex devices and systems.
Work with Biomed interns, and instructing about proper maintenance procedures
Recommend changes based on observation or experience with product or vendors

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
