http://www.ybelove.com A modern day queen is an individual who fully respects herself and does not allow others to disrespect her. These are women with class, who know their worth, and do not settle for mediocrity. These women are seen as more than their physical presence and are respected because of their inner beauty.
Although America does not have a royal hierarchical system, there is one particular woman in my mind who stands out as a modern day queen. This person would be none other than the beautiful First Lady Michelle Obama. When Michelle Obama walks into a room of people, she automatically draws attention. The attention drawn is not a result of the clothes she wears nor the shape of her body, it is more so about her confidence, classiness, and ability to give off the vibe that she knows her worth. I find it hard to believe that anyone would ever approach Mrs. Obama disrespectfully because it is hard to disrespect value.
Another factor that suggests that Mrs. Obama is a modern day queen is the way President Obama treats her. Sometimes when President and Mrs. Obama are on camera and he looks at her, there is a sparkle in his eye that insinuates that she is a woman of value and that he is proud to call her his wife. This is what it means to be treated as royalty and treated with the utmost respect because not only do others respect her, her husband also respects her. Michelle Obama is not the only modern day queen. There are examples of these beautiful women all over the country. Some of your mothers, grandmothers, teachers, mentors, professors, and other women from your communities are living examples of royalty.
It is my belief that all women are designed to be queens and are supposed to be treated as such. The problem is that society and circumstances have instilled in us the belief that women are subpar to men and are supposed to prove themselves as being worthy or valuable. This is evident in many different facets of life such as corporate America (glass ceiling effect), religious institutions (women have no place in the pulpit), and popular media. This notion that women are subpar and should function in the role of jesters (jokers) is heavily conveyed in music videos, which generally showcase male artists surrounded by a group of “thirsty” groupies who appear to be chasing them. These images symbolically portray guys as being kings, while the women are playing the role of jesters trying to prove themselves worthy of being with them. If you are a beautiful woman, I challenge you to walk into your role as royalty. Remember that queens demand respect at all times and do not settle for mediocrity. Are you a queen? If not, are you willing to take the throne and accept the responsibilities of being royalty? Remember that only Kings know how to properly treat Queens!
