What are your education goals for 2010?

In my opinion one of the greatest ways to raise this country from the dust is education. Many state governments choose to reduce their education budget. We individually and as families must make education a priority during 2010. Let's share ideas. What are your education goals? How will you get started? I look forward to your comments.

Hi, Stephen. I work in elementary education and the biggest commitment we can make to education is to allow our children the peace of focusing on the daily tasks they need to do at school and the related study at home. Black children continue to fall behind, not because of some 'EDUCATION BUDGET', but because many of them have family lives in shambles and concentrated on survival, not education. Our students can learn. They have great potential, but time after time, I see black children--mostly black boys--spend time at the office because they are acting out in ways that are not conducive to learning in a classroom--the only way they know how and have been taught by the environments they are made to reside--with parents that are absent or unprepared.

And Mr. Jones and Ms. Smallwood, I totally agree with both of you. One of the greatest ways to raise this country from the dust is education. But to change the current state of this world one must start with your own self. Only when you have started working on improving yourself, getting knowledge of self, can you start with elevating your community. Examples of important means are such as discussion groups, workshops and the facilitation of expert speakers and educators to tackle the issues and talk about your views of the problems facing you, your community, and the people in whole. But remember that you have to start with your own self.
