Bill Gates' 1999 predictions for post-Y2K technology were spot on, website reports (3670 hits)


Bill Gates may have made his fortune founding of the world's largest software company, but he may also have a knack for prophecy, at least when it comes to anticipating future technology.

Inc. took a look back at Gates' predictions for the way the Internet would change business in his 1999 book "Business @ the Speed of Thought."

In the book, Gates predicted "automated price comparison services" will allow shoppers to easily find the cheapest products, devices will have smart advertising that can track your purchasing trends, and people will carry devices "that allow them to constantly stay in touch and do electronic business from wherever they are," the report says.
