WHO WE ARE
Building Artists Relationships that Last a Lifetime
Indigo Arts Alliance is a Black owned/operated Artist Residency Program based in Portland, Maine. Founded in 2019, Indigo Arts Alliance has worked to amplify creative expressions and build greater opportunities for artists of color in Maine’s local arts scene.
Our artists residency program works to connect artists from the Portland community with artists across the African Diaspora, elevating the voices and visions of Maine’s Black and Brown community members in the marginalized spaces they’ve historically occupied.
Together, artists and our foundation mutually support each other to ensure a future wherein the cultures and traditions of Black and Brown artists are visible and validated.

CAREERS
Work With Us
Since our beginnings IAA has always strived to embody community building and creativity in our work, and as we enter our 5th year of operations we are excited to invite the brilliant minds that are HBCU Students and their alumni to help us continue this mission.
Working with IAA will give HBCU Students & Alumni the opportunity to sharpen their career skillsets and learn the inner workings of a community oriented non profit organization. Working directly with our artists, interns will participate in building an international network of Black and Brown artists.

Indigo Arts Symposia
Interchanging Ideas in Community
If art is a mirror, then our Symposia takes us through the looking glass. Indigo Arts Alliance seeks to curate thoughtful panels in meaningful spaces, which provoke conversation and change in our communities at large. Through these larger scale events, we continuously seek new and engaging ways in which artists and influential thought leaders can teach attendees via workshops, presentations, public conversations, and more.
