Medgar Evers College, named for the martyred civil rights leader Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), was established in 1970 by the Board of Higher Education of The City of New York as a result of the advocacy of community residents in Central Brooklyn, and educational and civic leaders throughout the City of New York.
Medgar Evers College recruits students who are in pursuit of self-actualization, a personal value system, and an academically sound and culturally enriched education. The Office of Admissions welcomes applications from high school graduates, transfer students, international students, professionals, and returning adults.
